Clinton Odayar is a K9 Search and Rescue Officer at the Umhlali Police Station in KwaZulu-Natal. Listen to Clinton speaking about what integrity means to him and how being crowned an Integrity Icon has boosted his faith in serving the public and also helped improve relations between the police and his community.

With more than 15 years of experience, Clinton is known in his community as a public servant who is always available and ready to go beyond the call of duty.

Two years ago he was instrumental in finding and rescuing an 18-month-old baby that was trapped in a manhole for three days. He recovered another baby during a search for a missing person along the North Coast. He often dedicates an entire day to search an area and often continues his search the following day to make sure. The neighbouring local response team often calls on him for issues they can’t handle on their own.

Odayar also visits schools to deliver talks on safety awareness, bullying and drugs. He gets involved in organisations like his local  church and is part of the voluntary emergency response team in his area and in Tongaat. Odayar also travels out to help and rescue people and animals beyond his normal work responsibilities. He also mentors young people and volunteers as the coach of a local youth soccer club.
